a little place for your thoughts...

I decided i wanted to learn to make some journals so looked up book binding on hte net and came up with a great video for coptic binding which shows the spine of the book and is delicatly threaded.

I tried a couple of mediums when doing this which were to cover the books in either felt or scrapbook paper. Though i much prefer the look of the felt on the book the scrapbook paper provided a much more quality finish.

Here are the books which i finished whilst messing around with this, i do love them and need to revisit this sometime as they make excellent gifts for friends.

Here is the view of a journal which i made for my friend Helen. It uses scrapbooking paper and has such a good quality finish. Both I and her loved it which made me very pleased.
Below is the image of the coptic binding on the side of the journal. You can see the intricate stitching. The good thing about this kind of stitch is that it keeps the book lying completely flat when closed.
This was me experimenting with felt on the journal. As you can see its sooooo pretty tho not so prefessional looking as the edges are harder to hide being thicker and i found it hard trying to find a mdium to cover the inside cover, as felt was too bulky but paper showed the raised edge of the felt too clearly.
